Modern Families

My older daughter's older step daughter is about  to marry a man with two young sons.

Will that make me a step-step-great grandfather?

If so, what responsibiliities, if any, are associated with this role?  What, if any, rights?

Younger daughter says i'll just be another great grandpa; but would not the actual great grandparents have some say in this?

Each person used to have 4 great grandfathers, not 5.  But that was before, artificial insemination, surrogate motherhood, etc.

In cases like this you just be the way you want to be. In this day of blended families there are no rules and
More than 4 grandparents is very normal.

Even before i knew anything about my own origins i was intrigued by the movie "Chinatown." When the detective confronts the widow by insisting on knowing who the mystery woman is, she says: "My daughter" then she becomes more and more unsettled as she continues: "my sister"... "my daughter"..."my sister" Then bursting into sobs, "my sister and my daughter." The things we do to one other make even the most simple relationships seem complicated, sometimes painfully complex, I think of Mrs. Muvay (the Faye Dunnawway character in Chinatown) whenever i learn of some new wrinkle in domestic relationa.
