Al Anon

So i am going to two Al Anon meetings each week (minimum) and one AA meeting (minimum), reading Alcoholic Anonymous, and looking for opportunities for service.  Tomorrow i will check out the Al Anon Literature Center which needs volunteers to sell books and answer phones.  I understand that the man who will be orientating me is a friend that i have not seen for twenty-seven years.  He has never left the program and i am really looking forward to seeing him again.

The AA meeting i picked to attend was a really serendipidous choice, i think.  Tonight there were thirty people.  In the past they would have really scared me (almost as much as ordinary people scare me),bur i felt instantly welcomed and safe.  There  were almost as many women as men, and their stories were equally, well,  dramatic.  (I would have said tragic, but hey, they are in AA!).

Wednesday, i will talk with my sponsor by phone.  I well request that we have fiuture meetings face to face.  I find telephone communication distracting and confusing.  Maybe that's autism or maybe it stems from the  fact that when  i  was growing up phones were mostly used for emergencies -- a ringing phone almost always  brought bad news.

Gosh, it feels good  to be back in Al Anon!

Equanimity, loving  kindness, compassion, and joy to all.
May we be mercifui, moderate, and modest.

You're welcome and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
We're painting and working like crazy here at home so I've had little time today to do a personal greeting as I like to do. I hope your day was special somehow.
