Shelter

Today waas another pleasant and surprisingly uneventful day at Corpus Christi House.  People were a little edgy (probably because of the heat (92 degrees) and non availablity of expected material services -- haircuts and bus passes moarly).  We were also really short of men's clothing.  But everyone held it together.  The one argument stayed verbal and not particularly loud.  No one thought intervention might be necessary.

On the other hand, there was plenty of food.  One of the guests brought me a delicious meat sandwich, and there were great looking deserts.  13 years ago, food was pretty hit or miss; now it seems there is a regular mid day meal!

I am slowly making friends among the guests.  The volunteers (except for me) seem very busy and and there has hardly been time for introductions.  There also seem to a fairly significant number of "guest volunteers" doing service to the  other guests.  (I assume that non-homeless volunteers wear designating clothing and guest volunteers do not, there were five people with CCH t-shirts and four apparent voluteers without.  This also
made for high ratio of volunteers to guests: 1 to 10 maybe.
