More On Fascism In The United States

The Sad Truth of Our Politics: It's Basically Turned into a Competition Among Oligarchs to Own Everything | Alternet.

This was shared by a Canadian friend in response to my Herrenvolk Democracy post.
I do not know this source (it is "liberal") and the definition of fascism does not match the one in my copy of the AHD (1996 rather than 1983 edition) but i thought that the article was worth reading and worth sharing.

Bobby, one of my other 3 LJ friends is posting on his fears of rising neo-fascism in Europe ... which coincidence worries me more than either alone. But I liked your other recent post about not being afraid. They trade in fear, brother. It is worrisome really, but worrying solves nothing and harms oneself.

Thank you, Regina. Yes, power trades in fear.

My mind is drawn lately to the words "love," "awe," and "fear."
Did Paul say, "Love drives out fear?"
The use of "amazed" in introducing the ninth step promises is enlightening. Why is awe mixed with dread? A study has suggested that awe is the most powerful positive emotion. Does awe encompass both love and fear? What is "healthy" fear?

Oh wow, Bobby. That's more than enough for reflecting on for the rest of the evening, or maybe the rest of Advent. I'm re-posting it to my journal!
