Everything i start to post lately seems designed by the ego to feed my ego!

For a while, you will see, in my journal, other people's poetry
and probably not that much from me.

But all is well, all things will be well.

I was going to ask the same question, Jackie.

She tires easily, sleeps a lot, doesn't complain, says she is doing o.k. Privacy issues prevent details; of course, i wish she were stronger, more active. But my wishes have no standing with her or with God. Things don't change much and are always o.k.

Just OK? Well, that's not a bad thing.

As it happens, I like you, so I like seeing you out and about in your ego. And they do need to be fed.

Say, have you read the Oliver Sachs story about his patient who was part of an Eastern-religion cult, whose ego was gradually erased, and it turned out to be a brain disease?

I read a lot of Sacks years ago, but i don't think i read that story.

I have often wondered whether my "spiritual yearnings" are bogus and simply an aspect of autism or some similar disorder of the brain or mind.

Oh, my, just to clarify-- I myself am definitely not thinking of you or anything about you as disordered. Rather, I was thinking of non-ego as an extremely unnatural and-- to me-- undesirable state for a human. Though of course there's such a thing as too much, as well!

Ego means different things, Freud's ego must be strong and in control. It is the "adult" without which ids would class i mutual destruction or id and superego would be in never ending combat.

Modern psychologists, i think, may see the ego as individuation., in which the oversocialized person creates a personal identity which us not a prisoner of the group. It is a step toward "transformation" into a more inclusive identity.

This is just off the cuff. But maybe i should be more specific about which ego i am trying to subdue. It is the one that may be standing in the way of greater inclusiveness.

I did not take your comment personally, but it did remind of some pondering i have done in the past. Asperber's insight may have been that "all genius may be touched by autism."

Yes-- what I mean by ego, and tend to think is meant in general non-technical conversation, is individuation or self.

I've never liked nirvana, either. :D

Nirvana, paradise, heaven, happy hunting ground, Tao.- it is unconceptualizable. Any word i would use would be nonsense. Ego night serve no purpose there; and if it is a void it might be full.
