Looking for old friends, i have found records of four. One is my ex-fiance who is alive and well.  Another was my previous girl friend who died in her early twenties (tuberculosis and spousal abuse?)  My best buddy our junior year died in 2013, and my closest friend throughout my teens died in 1999.  He, like my girl friend, was Thlinkit so living to age 69 was an achievement.  To think of them is to miss them and to sorrow over the treatment this  country and its citizens have dealt out to the land's original human inhabitants.  I wish i had kept in touch.

Ouch. I would imagine that hurts a bit to find out these things about these people.

Thank you. Autism, however unwelcome, is a shield against such pain. So is time and the awareness that death is part of life. With age comes an acceptance of pain and the realization that "pain is necessary, suffering is optional."
