Some people still defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will  inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the World.  This opinion, which has never been confirmed by the facts, expresses a crude and naive trust in the goodness of those wielding economic power and in the sacralized workings of the prevailing economic system.  Meanwhile, the excluded are still waiting. -- Pope Francis.

Yesterday's Writer's Block subject sent my mind back to old friendships, so i started googling names to see what i could come up with.  So far the only person i have found is my ex-girl friend of sixty years ago.  We lost touch immediately after she dropped me during the week before college graduation.  I followed her life for a few years through the alumni magazine.  She married my rival, who went on to become a world class pediatric oncologist.  They had four kids (boys i think), then divorced.  I heard no more about her until today when i found her on facebook.  She apparently still lives in the Big City but her roots are still deeply in  the homestead where she was born.  She remains active at age 82, and has apparently lost none of her youthful progressive attitude.  The quote above is taken  from her facebook page, and she got the quote from Bernie Sanders.  Yay!  I am thinking of asking Dianne to "friend" her (i do not have, and will  not have a facebook account).
Good idea?  Bad idea?
