It (prayer? meditation? contemplation? something else)

The day of my spiritual awakening
was the day i saw--
and knew i say--
all things in God and God in all things.


The Benedictine Monastery at Cottonwood in Central Idaho is named in  honor of St. Gertrude the Great, who was mentored by St. Mechtild of Helfa, who, in  turn, had been mentored by Mechtild of Megdeburg, a Beguine who finely found shelter in the Cistercian Monastery at Helfa.  I owe these fragments to the community at Cottonwood who printed them in their newsletter.


How should one live?
Live welcoming to all.


When are we like God?  I will tell you.  Insofar as we love compassion and practice it steadfastly, to that extent we resemble the heavenly Creator, who practices these things ceaselessly in us,
