Fortnightly Report

We are home two weeks now and things are going well.*
All is well given the frailty or humans and the fallibility of our institutions, my imperfections as a caregiver and Dianne's unwillingness to play the role of "recovering patients."  (Still i recoil at the thought of patients being called "customers"  Language is being more frequently used to hide rather than reveal actual situations: this seems true in medicine, and much more so in economics and politics.

I didn't want to bum anybody out; but i intended that my mild frustration be reflected in the post. All IS well!

Oh, I think I read you right.

When Sheeyun and I were going to therapist, not that long ago, his goal was to feel free. The therapist asked a couple of times what my goal was, and all I could say was that I don't do optimality: I try for viability and traction, whichI am chronically short of.

So I took your news as genuinely good news.

I'm glad things are going well. I can't imagine patients being called "customers". I agree on the mis-use of language these days.

Thank you.
It seems like almost everybody "spins" where their real or imagined interests are involved. It is indeed a strange "buyer/seller" relationship that exists between the health care system and the ill person -- and more so in the USA.

It's good things are going as well as they can...but customers? Is it the hospitals or insurance companies...or both...doing that? That only underscores the business aspects of health care.

Thank you.

Our hospital used "customer" to describe it patients.
