Teresa of Avila - Let nothing disturb thee

Let nothing disturb thee,
Nothing affright thee;
All things are passing;
God never changeth;
Patient endurance
Attaineth to all things;
Who God possesseth
In nothing is wanting;
Alone God sufficeth.

I have the plaque with those words (in original Spanish) on my wall.
:)
Nada te turbe,
nada te espante,
todo se pasa,
Dios no se muda;
la paciencia
todo lo alcanza;
quien a Dios tiene
nada le falta:
Sólo Dios basta.

Thank you.
It is beautiful even though i don't understand a word.
(Well, maybe i do understand a few words after reading Longfellow's translation a few times. I also recall this from somewhere as a hymn.

Re: "this young lady"
No, i do not know ganesha girl (Three years ago i didn't know Ganesh) It looks like she has not posted in over two years.

About for years an LJ community called "contemplatives" was formed to cross the lines separating different faiths to look at the mystical links that bind them all and make them one. I thought it was a great idea, but it seemed to die out Most of the members are still listed and i sometimes read their individual journals. It saddens me that the community was not more active, but perhaps that is the nature of a mystical community. The community was undefined (once we were "fine" then we got "defined."); and spirituality is better expressed by silence than by words.

My trouble is that I'm too old/stupid to understand Hi- Tech ! I'm positively paleolthic! I detest facebook ,twitter ,etc. They're so extremely limited ª!"·$%&/!!! I can't understand why anyone should leave our excellent LiveJournal for them ! It keeps me relatively sane . Without it I'd be a basket case ! Ana , my nextdoor neighbour , is a huge help . She keeps up my morale by taking me to explore the beautiful Spanish countryside in her car . My memory is poor . I became interested in Mysticism many years ago . I received Diksha initiation into Hinduism and tried to practise meditation - mais sans succès ! I find the mystical monistic, nondual dimension of all religions very similar - Advaita Vedanta , Sufism , Taoism , Eckhart , Buddhism , etc. However , my interest was keenest many years ago ! I hope I haven't offended our friend by hoping that the salafis , wahabis and other violent fanatics don't get to him . Only the other day , a Saudi "cleric" beat his 6-year-old daughter to death . I love Sufism but not jihadis . I love Rumi ,Ibn Arabi - whose ideas closely resemble those of our Shankarachárya . Religion is a two-edged sword .
Nowadays , I'm re-reading my books on (A)narchism . I'm particularly keen on the ideas of Kropotkin . Spain and the Ukraine have put his ideas into practice - and they worked !!! Down here they say ,"¿La crisis? ¡Que paguen los ricos!" I feel the present capitalist crisis ( when is it NOT in crisis?) resembles the thirties .
