Devara Dasimayya - Whatever It was

Whatever It was

that made this earth
the base,
the world its life,
the wind its pillar,
arranged the lotus and the moon,
and covered it all with folds
of sky

with Itself inside,

to that Mystery
indifferent to differences,

to It I pray,
O Ramanatha.

I have a totally stupid question. Do most people forget most of the time that this is a world infested and vibrating with interlocked life?

Most people? Probably not?
Most people in industrialized societies? Probably so.
I forget more often than i remember, i think.

Oh, right, of course! Thank you!

I don't know how I could have forgot that distinction.

When people ask how I can keep conscious of this interdependent state of affairs I explain that I'm a peasant from a long line of peasants, after all.
