My Brother Carl.

My youngest brother died this week.  I know no details.  He had just turned 78.  He was an elementary school teacher, a good one, with a deep love for his students.  He left his wife, Charlene and two adopted children and several grandchildren.  He was one of the really good guys and i wish i had known him better.  I am missing him and wish i could grieve for him properly.  Now there are me and my sister (Carl's twin).
It turns out money does buy life as most of us thought it did.  As the gap between rich and poor has grown, the gap in life expectancy has more than doubled.  (Nearly tripled in the case of women.}

"...for men born in 1920 there was a six year difference in life expectancy between the top 10 percent of earners and the bottom 10 percent.  For men born in 1950 the difference had more than doubled to 14 years.

For women, the gap grew to 13 years, from 4.7 years..."  -- Brookings Institute (Reported in today's Idaho Statesman.

Someone finally polled the 1% — And it's not pretty

A different species or just folks like the rest of us, protecting their interests?
I can't tell.
All i know is that "my" Congressional  represents the "interests" of the one percent on almost every issue and "interests" of the majority on almost none.
