Answer for question 4384.

Which United States political party do you think is most responsible for the government shutdowns or near-shutdowns that have occurred over the past few years, and why?
On the one hand, the system is unworkable. Designed for a small territory with four million people, of whom only about half-million were allowed to directly participate, the constitution which dictates the basic structure of government now pretends to serve over 300 million people. The U.S.A. is ungovernable and we had better figure what to do about it. Break up the country into several smaller nations? See if anything can be learned from the European Union? I don't know.
But what we are doing isn't working. "Don't blame the players, blame the game."

On the other hand, this "plague on both your houses" attitude ignores the facts. One party is clearly more responsible for the mess we are putting ourselves in, furthermore it is corrupting the other party (the Democratic party). Would the President be so urgent about the TransPacific Trade Agreement if he wasn't trying to appease the Republican congresspeople and their wealthy owners? I dare say no more.
