Much thanks to showingup

We asked thousands of people to describe their ideal distribution of wealth, from top to bottom. The vast majority -- rich, poor, GOP and Democrat -- imagined a far more equal nation. Here's why it matters.

S
howingup, when posting this headed it "A Cause for Hope"  however that "cause" if very much weakened for me by reading the comments following the article.  Many of them seem heartless and also far more ignorant and ill informed than their authors seem to realize.

This raises the question for me of what would happen if we suddenly erased some of our ignorance, e.g; came to realize the the richest 20 percent of Americans are not fifteen times richer than the poorest 20% (what we think) but 430 times richer (which they are).?  Would it just lead to more excuses for abusing the poor?
