Sometimes there would be a rush
of noisy visitors and the silence
of the monastery would be shattered

This would upset the disciples; not
the Master who seemed just as content
with the noise as with the silence

To his protesting disciples he said
one day, “Silence is not the absence
of sound, but the absence of self”

Anthony de Mello; “One Minute Wisdom”, p. 142

A long time ago, i put de Mello into some kind of category.  I don't know what or why.  The "tag" read "don't waste your time reading this."  I was wrong.

Be the Change You Want to See.

If you send out goodness from yourself, or if you share that which is happy or good within you, it will all come back to you multiplied ten thousand times. In the kingdom of love there is no competition; there is no possessiveness or control. The more love you give away, the more love you will have.
