"Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy" in Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat,,  Spiritual Literacy, 1996, pp. 545-6.
(I added the items in parenteses)  A list is good to remind me of things i might want to consider.
Are some items more central to spirituality than others?  Perhaps "Silence", and "Love."
(What ahour the items i added?  Are they trivial? Counterproductive? Redundant? )

Violence

"Violence occurs whenever we forget or deny our basic identity as God's children, when we treat one another as if we were worthless instead of priceless" -- John Dear (quoted in Brussat and Brussat, Spiritual Literacy, p348.

I think i might have said: "when we treat each other as if we were objects (things, obstacles, tools, resources) instead of persons." Dear's phrase is poetic, memorable and true, but i think many doers of violence do not see their victims as "worthless" nor their actions as "violent."  They simply have some goal and they percieve other people primarily as facilitators of or barriers to that goal.  PPO.
