Food for emotional famine.

One little compliment can make you feel amazing.

So give me a compliment, anything in the entire world, even that my shoelaces are pretty.  Put this in your journal, and once you get some comments, put that entry in a memory or tag and when you are feeling down, just go to that entry and this will remind you how great you are.

Don't forget to put this in your own LJ so I can compliment you too! :)

Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven) - "To Joy"

I got to thinking the other day how all my favorite songs are sad songs: Unchained Melody, This World is not my Home, I've got your picture (or almost anything sung by Patsy Cline), Streets of Loredo, El Paso,  etc., etc,  Blues, dirges, songs of longing, sorrow, loss, songs of need are my cup of bitter tea.  I rack my mind for an exception and finally come up with one: Beethoven's Ninth Symphony  with lyrics by Freidrich Schiller and Ludwig von Beethoven.  It makes me want to stand up and salute!  (For Christians who are not classical music fans, the tune is "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.")

Fragment of "Ode to Joy"

Joy, beautiful spark of divinity*
Daughter of Elysium,
We enter, drunk with fire,
Into your sanctuary, heavenly (daughter)!
Your magic reunites
What custom strictly divided.
All men become brothers,
Where your gentle wing rests.

Whoever has had the great fortune
To be a friend's friend,
Whoever has won a devoted wife,
Join in our jubilation!
Indeed, whoever can call even one soul,
His own on this earth!
