Dhammapada (12) - Yourself

Mischief is yours.
Sorrow is yours.
But virtue is also yours,
And purity.
You are the source
Of all purity and impurity.
No one purifies another.
Never neglect your work
For another's,
However great his need.
Your work is to discover your work
And then with all your heart
To give yourself to it.
Dhammapada (12) - Yourself

To find my true self and lose my false self,
To lose my ego and keep my soul,
These are my foremost tasks.

To find my soul is to be awakened.
To be awakened is to follow Tao.
To follow Tao is what, i believe, the historical Jesus wanted the hearers of his teaching to do.

The awakened will not go wrong.
Followers of the Tao will not go wrong.
Seekers of the kingdom of God through the sermon on the mount will not go wrong.

Those who try to keep the self will lose it.
Those who lose the self will keep it.
