Writer's Block: Mark my words

What gives your life special meaning and purpose? Do you think it's important to leave a lasting mark on the world? If so, what form do you think this will take?

Knowing I am "special" and at the same time "nothing special" gives my life special meaning and purpose.  Like Trudy, the bag lady in "The search for intelligent life in the Universe" I think it is awesome that I am a small part of the awesomeness that is.  I do not want to be special except in the way that everyone is special-- I "am a child of the universe."

Very few people in the rich countries leave a mark that is more important than their too large carbon footprint, so I crave simplicity more than celebrity.  Even the people who do great things and have great ideas have their contributions abused and their ideas distorted.  I note how MLKs "content of character" statement is now being used to defend racism in Arizona.  I also think about what Christianity has done to the ideas of Jesus.   I also note how advance medical technology has contribute more to the costliness and inaccessability of medical care than it has to healing and health.  If that is what happens to great deeds and great ideas, I would just as soon not have any ,

I know you are going to say: "well you needn't worry." but that's ok.

What did Jesus mean?: explaining the ... - Google Books

I waited ten minutes and this link never finished loading.  You might be better off googling author and book:  Anna Wierzbicka, What did Jesus Mean?

The advertizement for the book allows one to look inside at a few pages.  The discussion of "conceptual primes" and "universal human concepts" begins on page six and runs for about twelve pages.
