Robert Manwill Update

Last August, I posted on a local case of an eight year old boy who was found murdered after being "missing" for nine days.  By the end of the month the boy's mother and her boy friend had been charged in the death.  It was alleged that the boy friend had beaten the boy to death as the culmination of an accelerating cycle of violence.  The mother conspired with him to cover up the killing.  The two would be tried separately and the trials would begin in October, 2010.  Then the case disappeared from view as the wheels of justice presumably ground on silently.  Last week the boyfriend announced that he was firing his attorneys for misguiding him and lying to him.  Since the prosecution has literally buried the defense in documents related to the case, the new lawyers will no doubt seek a postponement.Collapse )
