World According to Me: Part VI "The Axial Age?"

Around 800 b,c,e, an interesting time in world religious and spiritual history began. It had been over 3000 years since advanced horticulture had come into the world and about 2200 years since agrarianism had taken over as the dominant form of subsistence.  Agrarian society was bigger, meaner, richer, more unequal, more powerful, more productive, more literate, more urbanized. and, for the average human being, more miserable.  Throughout agrarian society, the most horrible abuse  imaginable of women and children was commonplace. Even though many of those societies would later become Buddhist, Christian, or Islamic, these inhuman conditions remain to the present day.Collapse )
