Tao te Ching, Chaoter 17 - Meditation

The very highest if barely known.
Then comes that which people know and love.
Then that which is feared,
Then that which is despised.

Who does not trust enough will not be trusted.

When actions are performed
Without unnecessary speech,
People say, "We did it!"

Daily Tao - September 30th, 2009

Likw many chapters, this one is supposed to be for would be political advisors
As Chuang Chou said the best thing a political advisor can do
is stay home and cook dinner for his wife.
This is advise for everybody.
For ,me/
Don't toot your horn, trust others, shut up.

If i follow a good path,
love will be spontaneous,
fear will be appropriate,
hatred will be irrelevant.

O unnamed unnamable
Put me on a good path,
keep me on a good path
Bless us all on our paths..

Meanings are sometimes cryptic, i've been told, because some things can be known by the heart rather than the mind, and words are made by and for minds.

To fear when appropriate means to fear what one "should fear" and not what "others fear." Chapter 20 (TTC) says: "Must if fear what others fear? How ridiculous!" What the Taoist sage fears most is losing the Way. If she (or he) is a true Master, she (or he) will fear nothing else. For myself, i fear lots of things. Some of them will happen, in which case my fear did no good; others will not happen, in which case my fear was for nothing,

The Tao Te Ching is a book i take very seriously. It was written by a serious person or persons; but also by someone with a great sense of humor. There are jokes there (i am told if someone can read Chinese). So it is ok to have fun with it, dispute with it, laugh at it. :)

I think you are also asking me here whether autistic people can feel what others feel? Well, probably not. And that can be a real disadvantage. Feelings are important, especially in the spiritual realm; to be without intuition is like being deprived of one of the other five senses--your favorite one, maybe. But we all learn to compensate. Some blind people can drive cars and climb mountains and might even fool people into thinking they can see. I do not want to fool people by faking emotions--but there are compensations and i can compensate.
