Update Update: Dianne's Brother Is Dead

The colon cancer which was supposed to kill Dianne's younger brother five years ago, finally did this morning.  He was, i think, 69 years old.  He leaves two daughters and a son and at least three granddaughters and a grandson.  My younger daughter, who has kept in close touch with him, says he was ready to die.

Though Dianne seems to come near me often; she is no longer able to monitor the unfiltered connection between my brain and mouth.  If i think it, however inappropriate, i say it.  That happened this morning.  I have to especially watch my mouth while others are grieving.

Just now finished a long phone talk with Dianne's younger sister who is, like me, a sole surviving sibling.  Nice conversation.  i think it did us both good..

I wish you all the pauses, and all the conversations, that you would most like to have.

My condolences; that has happened in my family, multiple deaths just one close on the next, sigh. My ex father-in-law, then my mom, then my ex brother-in-law, then my son...and now my sister-in-law is in cardiac critical care being treated but is terminal with her liver so she will likely go from there to hospice if she gets well enough to even leave the hospital. I guess as we travel through life we just have to expect the loss of more people as we go and learn firsthand about impermanence and our personal views of self or no-self, etc.

One of my favorite family pictures is from my step-grandfather's funeral. The grandchildren were carrying the coffin up the stairs to the church, and for some reason at that moment they were all laughing. There was no disrespect, they loved him, but no artificial somberness either. Death "is". It is universal and inevitable, and his death was not a tragedy.

I'm glad of what your daughter said, that Dianne's brother was ready to die.

Blessings to you.
