I am nearly always disappointed by the conclusions of novels (as i am with histories, biographies, etc.). This one has held up well through 350 pages (less than 100 to go) and it keeps building. I am certain i will end up recommending it, especially to people interested in 19th century European political history. I just have to remember that the main protagonist sees every person and event through Hans Christian Anderson's 'devil's mirror."
